In the scheme of things at the shop, someone didn't get any photos of the chine battens being put on. They are oak strips at the lowest edge of the side, capping off the edge of the bottom. The space between the chine battens and the side are thoroughly calked. This is very important as this area is the first line of defense against leaking. We would also have put on the "rub strips" (see next photo) prior to turning the boat over. That is the order of events in the assembly manual. Like Dad always said, "do as I say and not as I do!"

Notice Fritz and his pal Brodie, my English Springer Spaniel. Brodie likes the office in the winter, where it is warmer. So I have him bo my book keeping to help him pass the time.
