My son Andy, who is responsible for the web site work on this site, smears caulk on the ribs and chines. This caulk is a polyurethane caulk called 3-M 5200. It is some of the toughest, most tenatious goop you can imagine. That's why Andy is smearing and I'm doung the camera work on this photo.

You might notice some light colored boards clamped to some ribs on edge. Those we call "rib straighteners". Later, when the bottom is screwed down across the ribs, we need to make sure that we don't miss a rib with a screw because it isn't straight.
